Shadows in Dream Stone

Grieving and broken, Abaddon Ordell is sentenced to the brutal Dream Stone prison for the crime of miscarrying her child. Amid violence and despair, she discovers unexpected allies—and a purpose worth surviving for, if she can learn to trust again.

Dark, lyrical, and defiant, Shadows in Dream Stone is a story of rage, resilience, and tenderness. It’s a sapphic dystopian sci-fi tale about what it means to reclaim your body, your story, and your freedom.

For readers of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Hillary Jordan’s When She Woke.

Yes. It’s Book 1 of the Dark Stars series. Book 2, Reaper of Daymares, is coming in 2027.

What is Shadows in Dream Stone about?

In a near-future world where miscarriage is a crime, Abaddon Ordell is sentenced to nine years in Dream Stone prison. To survive, she has to trust again, and she starts plotting against the regime that put her there.

Where can I buy it?

Anywhere books are sold. To order it from your local indie bookstore, give them the ISBN: 9781970289107.

Is it a standalone, or does it end on a cliffhanger?

This does not end on a cliffhanger, but it does hint at a continued story!

Is it YA?

No. It’s adult fiction with dark themes, including various content warnings (listed above).

Is there romance?

Yes, a sapphic slow burn between Abaddon and Kila.

Is Shadows in Dream Stone spicy?

Yes. This is what you might call a “low-spice” book with sexual tension that builds.

Is Shadows in Dream Stone based on real events?

The story is fiction, but the fear behind it is real. In the first three years after Dobbs, prosecutors brought at least 902 pregnancy-related criminal cases across 23 states, according to Pregnancy Justice. Seventy of those cases involved a pregnancy loss or the death of a newborn. I wrote Abaddon’s story because I couldn’t stop thinking about those women.
